Birth is magic. It’s one of the most profound, life-affirming events that we have the privilege to experience. As a nurse and doula, I’ve had the pleasure to witness many births and each time, the beauty of it brings tears to my eyes.
The first breath, the first time a mother holds her baby, the first look on partner’s face after finding out the sex, the first family portraits. There is so much excitement and emotion in the room to be a part of, so take part. I will capture these moments for your family respectfully, skillfully and beautifully.
‘Paulina, you are amazing! Words cannot express how grateful we are to have had you present during our son’s entrance into the world. You were able to photograph us during our most intimate moments, and not once did I feel on display. It was so incredible to go through the pictures of when I was in labor, precious moments that I would have otherwise forgotten, and be able to re-live the magical time. ‘At first when my partner mentioned having a photographer in the room while I was in labour I thought, no way. As I thought about it more I decided to shoot an email back to Paulina showing slight interest depending on how graphic the photos would be. After viewing the samples of the photo shoots she had done previously I was sold and couldn’t live without having this amazing time recorded. Of course I was full of emotions being pregnant and actually bawled when I saw the samples. Meeting Paulina for the first time was like getting together with a family member you haven’t seen in years. She was so easy to talk to and we hit off a friendship (I would like to think) right away. When the day of delivery came she dropped her plans and was there to capture the life changing event…our son being born. What a blessing. I noticed Paulina ask the consent of every member in the room if it was alright to be photographed. This pleased me and was something I hadn’t thought of myself. I was so impressed that Paulina was able to send us a handful of shots the night of delivery before she even left the hospital room. Was so cool to pass those on to family and friends for all the curious people in our lives and they enjoyed them just as well. Paulina certainly set a high standard for our first child and now we just hope she will be available to do our next child whenever that may be. Thank you again for a wonderful experience.’
